There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, where casino betting is not permitted. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a relatively tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; however, financial sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 17:00, and although visas are allegedly required to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is real of most border crossings.
The initial Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship casino, contains 150 slot machine games and 60 tables. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and sixty six of the normal gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive resort and hotel compound that contains many conveniences on top of the gambling den, which has ten thousand square feet of 130 slots and 88 tables.
