• Cambodia Casinos

There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which casino betting is not allowed. Eight gambling halls are situated in a generally small area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent location, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of restrictions constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; still, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 1700, and although visas are for all intents and purposes required to pass, there are methods around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.

The first Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge casino, highlights 150 slots and sixty tables. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 one armed bandits and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred one armed bandits and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the common gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive resort and hotel building that features many luxuries on top of the gambling den, which has ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and 88 tables.
