• Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia casinos that lie just over the border from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling hall betting is not allowed. Eight casinos are anchored in a generally tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect spot, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; still, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are allegedly required to cross, there are means around this, as is true of most borders.

The original Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship gambling den, highlights one hundred and fifty slots and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are 150 slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 one armed bandits and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel compound that highlights a number of conveniences on top of the gambling hall, which has 10,000 square feet of 130 one armed bandits and 88 tables.
