• Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a captivating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just over the border from next door Thailand, where gambling den betting is against the law. Eight casinos are situated in a generally small space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect location, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a few restrictions requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; however, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and although visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to pass, there are ways around this, as is true of many borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty slots and 60 tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of 150 slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the common gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel building that highlights numerous comforts aside from the casino, which houses ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and 88 tables.
